The\u00a0challenge\u00a0was that the\u00a0scullery\u00a0was a\u00a0previous\u00a0extension\u00a0to the house, so the door frame was through what was\u00a0originally\u00a0an external wall (280mm thick).<\/p>\n<p>To\u00a0compound\u00a0things we din&#8217;t actually want a door through to the\u00a0scullery\u00a0as it was nicely hidden away round the corner. As a result we ended up with a rather large imposing opening which frankly looked a bit odd.<\/p>\n<p>So my lovely wife came to rescue with the idea of\u00a0turning\u00a0it into a chalk board &#8211; come shopping list. I admit I was skeptical at first but once the frame was painted with chalk board paint (water based PVA) it looked stunning.
